This is a workshop where you will learn the very foundation of photography! We will create our own pinhole cameras, expose paper negatives and create a final print
Day 1 - May 3rd - 10 am to 4 pm
We will begin with a brief lecture on the principles of light and photography, we will also look at photographers who are successfully working with pinhole and lo-fi cameras. Next it is time to get in the studio and build our pinhole cameras! Before the day ends we will cut and prep paper negatives for the next day’s shoot.
Day 2 - May 4th - 10 am to 4 pm
We will go over darkroom basics, work flow and set up our chemistry. Then we will test our cameras for light leaks and determine exposure times. The final part of the day will be spent taking pictures at the location of our choosing. We will return to Alchemy to process the negatives.
Day 3 - May 5th - morning (10 -1) or afternoon (2 - 5)
Printing Day! We will need to break into two groups so everyone can work with their own enlarger. During this session you will learn darkroom printing techniques and create a final print from your paper negatives.
A few container possibilities for your pinhole camera. Anything with a lid that can be made light tight will work
A stopwatch, watch with second hand or iphone
Photo paper and darkroom chemistry is included in a $20 lab fee
