Drypoint Print and Plate.JPG

Drypoint is a versatile and beautiful printmaking technique that yields unique and beautiful effects.

After experimenting with scribes and needlepoints on an acrylic plate and inking and proofing on test paper, participants will jump right in to printing their own images and designs on quality printmaking paper. Students will learn how to add interesting textures, line weights, and shapes to their Drypoint plates, then transfer oil-based ink onto paper in interesting ways.

Each original hand-pulled drypoint print, printed with an etching press, will boast the velvety textures that distinguish drypoint from other printmaking techniques.

NIKKI BARBER is a Seattle-based printmaker, teaching artist, and instructor. She has shown her work extensively nationally and internationally, and is well-versed in a variety of techniques.
